The SCDC is excited to announce our annual Toy and Baby Gear Sale. It will be held on Sunday November 9th from 9am to 12pm at the Coolidge Elementary School on 1 Florence St. in Shrewsbury. Please note the location change. This sale is like a giant yard sale under one roof. People sell their gently used toys, baby gear (high chairs, strollers, exersaucers), books, clothing, games, etc. The event is very well attended and is our biggest fundraiser of the year. We will be charging a $1 admission fee to aide in our fundraising efforts so we can provide some additional free services and classes to the community. If you would like to rent a table please contact Jennifer Luke at email@example.com. The tables are $25 a piece and you keep all the money you make! Space is limited to about 40 tables and it is first come first serve, so do not hesitate to contact us and reserve your spot.
The SCDC has a weekly drop in playgroup for children of all ages. Please join us each Tuesday from 9:30am to 11am at the Mt. Olivet Church on 34 Prospect St. in Shrewsbury. We have toys for children mainly geared to age 4 and we provide some musical instruments, songs and parachute play. We ask for a $1 donation and we provide a small snack to each child. There is no need to register, just drop in!
The SCDC continues to sponsor STEM Classes, which stands for Science Technology Engineering and Math. We run programs for children ages 3 to 5 and children Kindergarten to 2nd grade. Please contact the SCDC at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information
There is an incredible playgroup that is starting on Wednesday Sept. 19th. It is held at the Grace Baptist Church on 353 River Rd. in Hudson from 9:30am to 11:30am. This church has about 9 different rooms with a bunch of different activities. There is a sensory room, room with a little bouncy house and other motor activities, arts and crafts room, doll house and imaginary play room, room geared toward toddlers, etc. It is really wonderful. It is just a $1 donation. They didn't have it last year because the person who ran it could not work on Wednesdays but it is back this year. I have been going for the past 4 years and it was always a hit with my kids. They even have a snack room and provide a small snack and water. You can also bring in your own snacks. They also have circle time for about 15 minutes and do it depending on age group. There is one for under 2 and one for 2 and older. I can't say enough great things about it and it's definitely a place not to be missed!
There are still spots available in the Indian cooking class. It starts this Wednesday (9/10) and will be for 6 consecutive Wednesday. Sign up for one or all. The cost is $20 and the class will be at 7pm in Shrewsbury. The class is taught by Anu and she will teach a new Indian dish each week. Let me know if you are interested
